El viernes 18 de octubre se realizó la presentación de un Plan Integral del Estero de San José del Cabo, planteado como una solución ante la problemática de esta Reserva Estatal Ecológica (REE).
The proposal, presented at the Casa de la Cultura in San José del Cabo, was unveiled at a forum organized by "Añuiti Patronato del Estero San José del Cabo A.C." led by businesswoman Blanca Pedrín, before representatives from various sectors involved with the Estero Josefino.
Victor Marquez, director of VMA, a company dedicated to urban planning, architecture, landscaping, and transportation, presented the project for a park surrounding the perimeter of the Josefino Estuary, with walkways, playgrounds, sports areas, parking lots, and various forums for cultural activities. During the presentation, it was pointed out that the work around the estuary "will have zero environmental impact," with no negative effects.
The urban planner and sociologist compared this large-scale proposal with others carried out in other cities, asserting that they are "projects with massive impacts." He also stated that there was no better way to solve the issues of concern and pointed out that the park would be a kind of "belt" that would protect the reserve.
One of the main ideas put forward by Marquez is that this project would not depend on any municipal administration and could even be financed with resources from international funds. He estimated that the park could be completed within three years with an investment of over one billion pesos.
